Why Not?

Many of you are asking me “What’s with the Ellen thing?”

And some of you, who are less kind and more blunt, are asking me, “Have you lost your mind?”

And I would like to answer both....and not in any particular order....'cause Thanksgiving is a perfect time to be asked questions that make you look at "where you are at" and "what you are doing."

So, what am I doing?

I'm having fun, pursuing a passion, saying “F*%# You!” to anyone who says I can’t be downright silly or anything I want to be, dancing like I don’t care who’s watching, acting like I am 24 instead of 44, trying to be a blogger, a writer, dreaming of being a comedienne, a talk-show host…and, amongst other things, a freakin’ guest on Ellen!!

And besides that…realizing I am at an age and a place in my life where....

Sometimes the answer to the question of "Why?” is simply “WHY NOT!”

Dreams aside (and I hope you all still dream my friends)...reality is a pretty good motivator too. My world includes friends and family who have accomplished great things and who I want to emulate....and it includes friends and family who work really hard, have suffered loss, faced challenges...one friend currently undergoing chemotherapy....in all those scenarios I say, "YIKES, life is short...what can I do next?"

So I work ...and I dream and I play....and I hope....

That any of the things I do bring joy to me, others or make anyone, hopefully, my kids, think, "If she can try 'stuff' so can I."

Have you heard of Susan Boyle?
Have you seen, “The Blind Side?”

Who doesn't love an underdog? Right now I am the underdog that wants to get on the Ellen Show.

"Hey You Never Know,” “Stranger things have happened,” “Once in A blue moon”…Weren't these phrases created for situations like “little Ole’ me" accomplishing something that logic says I shouldn't be able to accomplish?

Look at Genie who IS working for Ellen and helping Ellen make other people’s dreams come true?

I'm just sayin'....my little Ellen distraction isn't actually a "departure" from my VuvClub themes...Many Vuvs I know and love, no matter what their age or what they already have "under their belts" are asking themselves, "What next?" And many of them are lucky to have people in their lives that say, "Right on Sistah!"

I don't know where the Ellen road, or any road for that matter will take me...I just feel compelled to keep trying to not just be "Something Else" but to do Something Else...always.

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for so many things: family, friends, love, good health, lots of laughter in my life and I am thankful that the mind I have not lost...yet...has Barbra inside it singing loudly....“Don’t Rain On My Parade!”
From Shrek, the greatest fairy tale never told!
FIONA: Wait, where are you going? Exit's over there!
SHREK: Well, I have to save my ass...
FIONA: What kind of knight are you?
SHREK: One of a kind.

Look for me and Ellen in the next sequel!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

You go, sistah! I, too am a dreamer and love the quote: "You can live your life happily ever after, but only one day at a time." You get a little closer to your dreams every day, if you do a little bit towards making them happen, every day! I have a good feeling about this Ellen thing (I love her, too, by the way!) - just keep visualizing it!!!! GOOD LUCK, Vuv-a-leh!!!!
