Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. Thankfully, I did. Besides continuing to go door-to-door for Ellen, which is getting exhausting by the way, I celebrated Thanksgiving and my son Max’s pre-birthday weekend, with a bang and a 3 pound weight gain! You can't beat that.
The festivities began with a 5 mile Turkey trot on Thanksgiving morning. Eric, our friends Steve, Randi, Elise, Tim, Scott, Adam, Mitch, Jake, Adam, Lauren and Sammi “trotted” too! And it was exhilarating…despite that 11 year old Adam kicked all our asses with an elite runner’s time….but then it won’t be the last time someone much younger runs circles (literally) around some of us, will it?
The route was scenic, the weather was mild, the crowd was festive and I wasn’t the last to finish. It was all good. Eric and I collected our medals and headed home to “put in the bird” for 18 members of our illustrious family (they will all say they have been called a lot of things before, but never "illustrious"). There were no grease fires, didn’t burn my eyebrows off like in prior years and no one left hungry. Football games and a Godfather marathon added to our day and finally the whole family agreed on something-- Sofia Coppola ruined the never-ending Part 3 of the trilogy. No arguments about that!
Next….ignored Black Friday. It is a stupid name for a day that is supposed to transition us into “Holiday Season” so I don’t partake. Whether its origin was that it’s typically the first day of profitability for many stores, heavy traffic caused by shoppers or because a guy named Laurence Black once worked in a department store somewhere…..I don’t like it. So, I re-named it, for my purposes, “Leftover Friday,” a day we share with people who host their own Thanksgiving and join forces with my family to eat all of Thursday’s leftovers on Friday. I suggest you try it and you may use the name. I have already sent a proposal to Hallmark for cards. My favorite entry so far is "We ate it once and that was fun....let's do it again till the food is done," but I am still working on it. Anyway....twenty guests on Friday and there is not a smidgeon of string bean casserole remaining in my house….which means it was a mad success!
The rest of the weekend, with my full belly and my open heart, I “peddled my wares.” Translation: went out selling O Magazines. I am still hoping, especially in the spirit of Thanksgiving, that Ellen will appreciate my efforts. I have met some unique neighbors, as you will see in the next video, and this has not been an easy task...but I am confident my work is boosting those numbers and Ellen's cover issue will be the best-selling issue ever!!!
I am so grateful for all my Vuv supporters who like me, are “cuckoo for cocoa puffs,” if you know what I mean… and are rooting for me to grab Ellen’s attention? Thank all of you for letting me grab yours.
Speaking of grabbing…if you see my adorable son who has turned 15 today, grab him and say “Happy Birthday!”
And did I tell you, in honor of Max, we are also changing the name "Cyber Monday" to Birthday Monday?
Stay tuned for the next video!
